XP classic search, balloon tips and menu speed

Use the classic search style in Explorer,

  1. Start Regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState
  3. Add a String Key called Use Search Asst
  4. Give it a value of no

Stop Balloon Tips

To turn off balloon tips in applications that support XP Themes:

1.      Start Regedit
2.      Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\
3.      Create a DWORD value of EnableBalloonTips
4.      Give it a value of 0
Faster Menu speed
Go to HKEY_CURRENT-USER\ControlPanel\Desktop
Select MenuShowDelay and set it to 0 or more
 
Faster Shut Down
Go to HKEY_CURRENT-USER\ControlPanel\Desktop
Select HungTimeOut and set it to 2000
Select WaitToKillAppTimeout and set it to 5000
